Big things are in motion in Downtown Alpharetta, and one of Alpharetta's most-loved annual events is back next week.

We’ve gotten feedback from people wanting more events and local businesses, so we included more of this in today’s newsletter. Be sure to vote what you would like to see more of in the poll below!

Here's what you need to know for this week.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

🚧 Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming Downtown Alpharetta Project

The Alpharetta.com team sat down with the developers behind Alpharetta District Places to learn what's actually coming to downtown Alpharetta. Check out the full interview here.

  • Construction on Phase 1 kicks off in late May, with businesses expected to open by late fall 2027. The project brings chef-driven restaurants, boutique retail, and a proposed 300-350 person live music venue.

  • A dedicated incubator building will offer 400-500 square-foot storefronts. This gives small and emerging local businesses an affordable foothold in downtown for the first time.

Editor's take: One of the parts that doesn't get enough attention is the music venue. Alpharetta has the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre for stadium-scale acts, but there's been a real gap for mid-size touring artists, the kind you actually want to discover before they blow up. If this venue gets built and programmed well, it fills that gap without anyone having to drive outside of Alpharetta. The developers are also locals with skin in the game.

🍴Taste of Alpharetta is Back Next Thursday

Alpharetta's largest annual food event takes over downtown Alpharetta on May 14th from 5PM-10 PM, and admission is free.

  • Over 60 local restaurants will be sampling food across Downtown Alpharetta. Participating spots are limited to brick-and-mortar restaurants in Alpharetta and nearby areas including Johns Creek, Milton, and Roswell.

  • The event is cashless. Food and activity samples are purchased using "TasteBucks," the event’s digital currency, available through the Taste of Alpharetta app before you arrive.

  • Parking is free at multiple downtown decks and lots. A free shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes from Wills Park if you want to avoid the walk.

Editor's take: You're getting a snapshot of the entire local dining scene in a single evening, not just eating at one place. The cashless TasteBucks system has smoothed out the experience in recent years, but the real trick is pacing yourself. Check the app, map your route, and leave room for dessert.
